DWC Stories-Chapter 06: Stop fooling around! PR-03

Tracking down such a large Digimon is not that hard. The path of destruction is too obvious to oversee it. But getting a chance to hit it is a different story. With over fifty other Digimon and their partners hanging after one target it's obvious that there will be a little 'heavy traffic' on the road. What we have to do in the third round is easily hunting after one certain Digimon, Skullsplashmon, and get one of its golden teeth.

It's day one after we got the task assigned by Centarumon. Nearly all participants got up early to start hunting. Just a handful like Terriermon and myself don't bother too much to start right away. It's not because we're lazy but we expected that there would be too many Digimon and people out there at once at the start and we were right. Surly there should be enough time in the upcoming days to get that tooth too.

Day two and three, even four pass all rather quickly. A few Digimon and partner already made it back with a tooth. Sadly I also see a few which come back without one, saying that it's too hard for them.. Could it really be that hard? Doubts start to rise in me and thoughts about that we should leave soon too but Terriermon calms me down and says, we will be all right!
On day five and six, more and more of the remaining participants also start hunting the Skullsplashmon and more are coming back, again some with and a few without a tooth. At the end of day seven I count that about half of the Digimon and people are actually back again. Tomorrow, we will also set out to the hunt.

The second week starts and with it our hunt. As Centarumon told us, the Skullsplashmon will be roaming around in the areas Tropical Jungle, Amida Forest and Freezeland. The jungle and the forest are the closest to us. Also we have to cross them to get to the Freezeland anyway because we think it will probably be there now. Also we want to see snow again~
We easily make it to the Freezeland because there is quite a large path due to the destruction the Skullsplashmon left behind from the previous battles and its way to the cold land. In just two days we make it into the snow and up a hill from where we can easily observe Skullsplashmon's current location. We wait there for a good opportunity to try our luck on it.

It's the next day and we notice that another duo also is here and hunting down the Digimon for its tooth. We keep hidden and look at the two fighting the tall and fearsome looking enemy. Skullsplashmon seems to have a lot of self-confidence. All the time it cheers itself on and marvels at its attacks and power. The duo tries their best at getting the tooth, the Digimon even evolved into its mega level. But they get defeated by Skullsplashmon. However to us, Skullsplashmon does not look like a hard enemy at all. Sure it has some nasty moves but mostly it was talking and did hide behind its talk. The duo that lost swears revenge and I hope that they won't go too far away to see me and Terriermon battle for the tooth because we want to show them how and how easy it is to get it.

It's late afternoon now as we approach the Skullsplashmon. Beforehand I let Terriermon digivolve into Gargomon. We directly walk forward it and stand right in its way so it must face us. "We're here for one of your teeth..." I say and Gargomon adds "... and you won't be able to stop us." Skullsplashmon looks down at us. For a moment there's silence but also kinda big tension in the air. Gargomon and I saw that this Digimon was fooling around with the last opponent pretty much but we also saw that it had some strong moves. Nevertheless we stand still, determined to fight until we have what we came for.
Suddenly Skullsplashmon start to laugh out loud and his whole body shakes. "You half servings want to get one of my golden teeth? Today I already put someone to flight without even breaking out in a sweat. And looking at you two I doubt that you will be any tougher than the last two." Skullsplashmon keeps talking and ignores us completely. "Every day I fight many of you but none of them really impressed me. Mostly they were whiny and their punches only tickled me. Some could punch and I gave them a tooth because they seemed to have potential or I simply had mercy with 'em and didn't want to let them get even more exhausted than they already were. But so far none of..." A direct hook to the chin of Gargomon's ear stops Skullsplashmon's flood of words but it keeps making noises at first... "Thheeeeouuuhhhh..."
And then a silent *crack* and a tooth flows away~
Skullsplashmon lands on the ground, finally silent and knocked out after one single hit. Gargomon catches the tooth in mid-air and presents it to me victoriously.
We don't know if the other duo is still around, we just hope they saw that this Digimon simply needs to be hit at the right place when it is not paying attention.

We make it back to the camp in just a day and present Centarumon the tooth. It is satisfied with it but asks how the battle went and if it was hard to get it. We calmly explain everything Centarumon. It may listens to us but it also seems like it is in doubt about something, thinking about something..
Two days later we find out what it was when they announce who made it into the next rounds and who didn't. We're in the last group. The reason is not that we didn't succeed or didn't do well on the last mission. In fact, we did too well and letting us continue would be too hard for some of the other participants. At the DWC they know our history and what we did in the past to protect the digital world. We're not unknown and we proved our power already a few times. Letting us continue would, as said, simply be too hard for other tamers and Digimon since we're on a totally different level already.

Terriermon and I accept that. The circumstances are clear and we may be sad but okay with it.
But we won’t leave file-island right away. We will stay and watch the next rounds to see how the other Digimon and Tamers are doing. We made some friends among them and will cheer for them for sure! Also we were asked by Centarumon if we could keep an eye on the tournament in case something happens. We’re strong and who knows when you could need that strength once?
